As a core component of the 6th “China Brands Entering the United Nations” series, the 2025 Forum on Globalization and Sustainable Development of Enterprises was grandly held at the UN Headquarters in New York on September 10 (Beijing time). The event was co-hosted by the SME Cooperation and Development Promotion Center and the China Brand Innovation and Development Project, attracting wide attention from UN agencies and the international community.
In his opening remarks, Li Nan, Secretary-General of the China Brand Innovation and Development Project and Executive Deputy Director of the Brand Office of the SME Cooperation and Development Promotion Center, noted that this was the sixth time a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs had taken the UN stage. He emphasized that the event systematically showcased the achievements of Chinese brand building and explained the practices and innovations of Chinese enterprises in fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and social responsibility.
The forum invited officials from the UN ECOSOC Office for Sustainable Development, the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the UN Correspondents Association, as well as diplomats from multiple Permanent Missions to the UN. Business and media representatives from both China and the United States also joined. Glenn Holz, Senior Advisor at the UN Office for SDG Investment, stated that Chinese enterprises are a key force in responding to UN initiatives and have made outstanding contributions to advancing the SDGs. He expressed hope that more Chinese enterprises would participate in the future to jointly create a sustainable future.
The participating Chinese companies represented a wide range of key industries, including healthcare, elderly care services, hotel management, machinery manufacturing, and modern agriculture. During the forum, Chinese entrepreneurs shared their growth paths and brand stories guided by the理念 of sustainable development. They also jointly signed the “China Brand UN Declaration,” pledging to uphold the principles of integrity, innovation, environmental protection, and energy efficiency, to continue implementing sustainable development strategies, to actively fulfill social responsibilities, to promote China’s fine culture, and to safeguard the international reputation of Chinese brands.
On the same day, a promotional video showcasing outstanding Chinese entrepreneurs was simultaneously broadcast on the giant electronic screens at New York’s Times Square, “the crossroads of the world,” using visual storytelling to present the excellence of Chinese entrepreneurs to a global audience.
The successful hosting of this forum demonstrated that Chinese enterprises have made strategically significant progress in deeply integrating into global value chains and in providing solutions for global sustainable development through innovation-driven approaches and a sense of responsibility.
